CHAPTER 18

STAR

I decided to hit the mall for some new lingerie before Rari came over. For some reason I kept feeling like I was being followed though. Behind me, in my Jaguar’s rearview, an all-black Mercedes had been behind me for the last six miles. They must be going to the mall too, I told myself. I tried to ignore my paranoia. Why would someone be following me anyway?

Rick Ross blared through the speakers, and I quickly turned up the volume, and yelled that I was a boss with him. The sun illuminated the sky, making my day twice as good. Chavez and Cam had to get over the feelings that Rari and I had for each other. We had all grown up together, and Rari had helped protect me every step of the way, just like my brothers did. Rari wanted me, and I felt the same, even though I had continuously ignored my feelings for Chavez’s sake. It was time for him to get over it. We were grown now. I was grown now.

I pulled into Lenox Mall, no longer seeing the Mercedes that had trailed behind in my view. I grabbed my Prada bag from the passenger’s seat, grabbed my keys, and stepped out. The mall was packed full with Saturday shoppers. On my way straight to Victoria and her secrets, a man offered to buy me whatever I wanted, but I quickly declined.

“No thank you,” I told him, smiling and continuing to walk.

“I usually don’t do this, but you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.”

He was walking beside me now, and I was getting irritated.

I had to admit, he looked alright, but I was in no mood to add stalkers to my list, and once a nigga bought you something, he thought he owned you. It would have been nice to spend the nice wad of cash he quickly flashed, hoping that I would give in. If I ignored him after I spent his little money, he would be pissed off, and probably would come looking for me, and where did I work… Daddy’s Playhouse.

“No thank you sweety.” I quickly denied him again, and then he started talking shit.

“You ain’t shit no way bitch!” He barked.

Boys were so predictable. He was mad, but I didn’t give a fuck. I made my way into Victoria Secret, hoping no one else would try to talk to me. I was used to getting attention, that shit wasn’t anything new, but I had Rari circling my brain, and I didn’t want anyone else. Victoria Secret always had the sexiest shit, so I picked up an all lace top and bottom set in purple, me and Rari’s favorite color.

I made my way in between parked cars before reaching my own. A single note was stuck to my driver’s side window when I went to open it. The yellow sticky note had been crumbled up, and looked worn. It said, “I love you” with little hearts around it, and smiley faces had been added to the o’s in love and you.
